I just love to get invites to the formal winter parties! I'm not talking proms and so on but big time formal events. My significant other's business demands a lot of these so I need gowns that are different and exciting. I'm always on the prowl looking for what's new and if they're off the runway, so much the better. Hard on the budget I know but that's his department, right? So here it is Fall - Winter 2009 and it's not long until Christmas. I have three formal parties in October/November and two pre-Christmas and one at New Year's. So I Have to get 6 dresses in short order! I'd better get going! Take a look at the Bloomingdale's selection online and then later try Nordstrom's and Neiman's. OK Bloomie's first. Right off here's a very good looking dress. It's a Amsale V-Neck Jersey. The color is a lovely and unusual slate blue. A Jersey fabric that you'll love here. Their blurb says with added stretch, it'll look as fresh at the end of the evening as when you slipped into it. V-neck styling with waterfall ruffle front detail. Black satin ribbon accentuates the empire waist. Lined bodice. Invisible back zip with hook/eye closure. Catalog Item Number: 38415 Polyester/spandex. Moving right along, 1 down, 5 to go! Still at Bloomingdale's, I hate to do this but here's another Amsale "off the runway". Frankly, this is a beautiful dress and I'm going to snap it up right away. These good ones don't last long. A One Shouldered, Ruffled, Silk Chiffon Gown. in what they call "eggplant"! Anything less auspicious for a formal, I can't come up with. In fact, the color is a rich and deep plum. You should really look for it. Super dress - this one will really work for me. Oh the details! Rich color, flowing chiffon and ruffles make this a gown that's both glamorous and trend-right. Flattering empire waist, one shoulder has ruffled trim and one is a spaghetti strap. Pleated detail on bodice and skirt. Fully lined. Built-in boning. Invisible back zip with hook/eye closure. Catalog Item Number: 38296. Silk. Price $360. Let's got to Neiman Marcus and see what's over there. Now this is definitely a different dress. An arresting Paisley Foil Halter Gown by Sue Wong, who I love a lot! It's in a gold/burgundy/multicolor paisley print. Halter neckline; beaded trim. Empire waist. Full skirt; cutout opening. Silk/lurex. Neiman's item #NMF10_T27HD Price $410. Finally - last one! Still at Neiman's. This one is an Alberto Makali Ombre Gown. Purple. Plunging halter neckline. Tonal jewel detail on banded Empire waist. Gathered fly away skirt. Ruffle hem. Pure silk.
